About the Series
The Music and Arts series integrates two previously separate subject areas. In this series, Music, Theater, Dance, and Arts are merged.
- Key Stage 1 (Kindergarten to Grade 3) forms part of the Makabansa series.
- This series begins in Key Stage 2 (Grades 4 to 6), which covers regional and national concepts, processes, and practices.
- Key Stage 3 (Grades 7 to 10) covers Asian and global concepts, processes, and practices.
- Other key features of the series:
- use of modern teaching and learning strategies;
- presentation of significant works from national, regional, and global communities;
- exploration of historical and cultural influences from various eras (pre-colonial and Spanish colonial periods, contemporary influences from the 19th and 20th centuries to the present; and
- use of exercises that develop cognitive, affective, and higher-order thinking skills.

Provides the learner avenues to further deepen their understanding of the topics being discussed

Expands the learner’s grasp of the lesson either by effectively summarizing the topic into digestible chunks or providing an interesting trivia that illustrates how the topic manifests in real life.

Activities that deepens the learner’s understanding of the topic by allowing them to apply what they have learned

Gives a brief overview of the topic that was discussed, emphasizing its most important points for learners who would like to look back to review and refresh their knowledge.
- REFLECTION
Provides the students an opportunity to grasp how the ideas they learned matters and can be applied to their own life, allowing for moments of introspection that can encourage them to make better decisions to faster their well-being.
