Details

Real-world Math is a completely new series following the Revised K to 10 Curriculum of the K to 12 program being implemented by the Department of Education. The three content domains namely, number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and data and probability are now arranged in vertical and horizontal articulation, ensuring that standards and competencies are logically sequenced. Significantly emphasized in the series is the use of both inductive learning approach as well as the mastery learning approach especially evident in the assessment.

Key features of the series:
• Aligned with the Revised K to 10 Curriculum
• Contains exercises that strengthen the students’ numeracy skills and processing questions that create self-monitoring opportunities for students
• Applies guided discovery learning and constructivist method in the discussions
• Assessments encourage the students to justify solutions, communicate understanding, and express ideas well in written and/or oral form on top of challenging their higher-order mathematical thinking skills
• Packed with real-world applications of math
• Provides Learning Activities in Grades 1–6
• Supplies Try This problems in Grades 7–10

KEY CHANGES IN THE CURRICULUM

PARTS OF THE BOOK:

1. Each chapter starts with an overview of what it covers and the daily applications of the concepts you will learn.

2. Think shows a real-life problem which you should be able to answer at the end of the chapter.

3. Try is a multiple choice test that helps you know what knowledge you already have about the lessons.

4. Listed in the Achieve part are the unpacked learning competencies you will demonstrate by the end of the lesson.

5. Every Understand starts with a Learning Activity which will serve as a springboard in discovering the concepts in the lesson.

6. Learn poses examples with answers for you to check how you are learning so far.

7. For practice, Build gives more exercise items.

8. Real-life problems presented in Appreciate will challenge you to think deeply and critically.

9. Processing Question(s) will give you opportunities to express what you have learned in the lesson.

10. All the important big ideas are wrapped in an engaging activity through Remember.

11. Answer is a multiple-choice assessment that will check how well you have learned and understood the lessons in the chapter.

12. You will be asked to express your thoughts, opinions, and knowledge of the math concepts you gained in the chapter by doing Reflect.

13. For learners who will need more review, Practice will provide the exercises you will need.

14. Extend lets you answer more challenging questions related to the topic discussed in the chapter.

15. Answer to Think confirms if you got the correct answer in the problem presented at the start of the chapter.
